August Escape To The Outer Banks
August always feels like the last gasp of summer! Days burnt by relentless sun and the hum of cicadas always come to mind. It was a first for me to travel to the Outer Banks in August, and there is a bit of a oxymoron when vacation is timed with the end of summer. It felt like I had to squeeze everything in before life takes a different pace. But, we tried our best to soak in all that we could of summertime, beating the heat with beach days, ice cream cones, fresh-caught seafood, and my personal favorite: outdoor showers!
Our OBX favorites include daily visits to Morning View, treks across the bridge to Manteo, taking in the fiery sunrise, the mahi mahi tacos at none other than Mahi Mahi Island Grille, and our visit to the most charming farmers’ market at Dowdy Park!
More on the OBX soon! ciao, xo

The Outer Banks is refreshingly the same as I remembered! Very little has changed since my last adventures there. It’s fitting to let nature do all of the changing - the shifting of inlets, barrier island, sandbars - because the naturalness of this place is my favorite thing about it.
It was a week of long bike rides, cutoff shorts, sugary donuts, hazy evenings, and long mornings.
The allure of the sky in the morning is undeniable.
For now we've found refuge in ice cream cones, summer shandies, and quick dips in the ocean...
The Outer Banks is pristinely beautiful, home of absurdly good coffee and the kindest folks.
If dunes could talk...
This trip to the Outer Banks was one of many firsts! For us, it was our first long-distance family trip (over 7+ hours in the car each way). So, we basically packed our bags and then some because we needed to bring pretty much everything baby-related for baby G! Oh, and Rosie came too 🤭
