August Escape To The Outer Banks

August always feels like the last gasp of summer! Days burnt by relentless sun and the hum of cicadas always come to mind. It was a first for me to travel to the Outer Banks in August, and there is a bit of a oxymoron when vacation is timed with the end of summer.
