Everyday
This is where life happens.
What exactly is it about visiting a garden center in nascent springtime? The inspiration is absolutely flowing, and I felt it in literally every sense.
How and why I carve out the time for photography in my family, plus a little rant on why you should stop treating your phone like a camera :)
“Where do you find inspiration?” asked no one of me, ever. But here I am to tell you all about it! And to find inspiration, I am always guilty of immediately doing the thing I know I shouldn’t do. I hate it when I let myself kill it without even realizing it!
I am so predictable — whenever the end of August rolls around I find myself pulling on a much too heavy sweater, dreaming of rustling leaves, stacks of books, piping tea pots, and yearning for the academic life. I recently visited to Princeton to scratch this particular itch.
This venue was an impeccable spot for a fun, girls-only garden brunch! I left with major coastal garden inspiration. Welcome to Beach Plum Farm!
I have been meaning to post about this goals list - in my head it was going to publish way earlier, but here we are at the end of June. I love that it still feels like the beginning of summer.
An unexpected trip to Paris was booked, but it wasn’t for me. Even still, a little piece of Paris came home to me, and it was a true gesture of love and sweetness!
A spring refresh is exactly what I have been needing! I am feeling the urge to wear sandals, dresses, and hang out outside.
It’s hard to not get bitten by the January organization bug. Our Christmas decorations may still be up, but it doesn’t mean I am itching to clean, organize and declutter everything! One of my Christmas gifts was a beautiful jewelry box which gave me an opportunity to clean out my smaller jewelry accessories.
The countdowns til Christmas, twinkly lights, and smell of fresh greens never fail to inspire me and leave me feeling oh so excited for the holidays.
Finally, we have a Christmas market in our community! Grab a hot cocoa and see just how beautiful of an event this was. I can’t wait to return!
The challenge here is to lengthen my attention span with clothes…workwear and everyday. The allure of fast fashion and new trends is intoxicating, but I am actively trying to pull myself away from that! You’ll be seeing me in comfy, affordable, yet quality pieces. I’ll pretty much just admit here that if it’s not comfortable or simple, I won’t be wearing it.
October was a bit of a whirlwind of daycare-caught sickness and many under-the-weather days for S and myself. However, I was determined to eventually get to the pumpkin patch with our little peanut! On a gloomy day, we made a quick pit stop at a local nursery to snap a few pictures of the baby with some big old pumpkins!
This feels like it might be the most ridiculously random blog post I have ever posted! But how fun!? Fall is in full swing and why not. Welcome to my Bucks County Pumpkin Scouting Guide.
A few weekends ago we had a spontaneous trifecta of conditions: great weather, some free time, and we weren’t too exhausted!
It’s July, which means 95 degree temperatures, grilling, sundresses…and margaritas! I like to call them ‘margs, for short, and they might be my all-time favorite cocktail.
This summer, the summer of ‘22, is going to be majorly different…and while summer is my time off, I think the theme that I am building in is going to revolve around routine. The priority is “me” time, and self-care is something I want to be consistent about!
Life lately is full of days where there is a to-do list a mile long, and yet at the same time, there is seemingly no time to do it! It is a cozy and comfy time of year, and the weather has been keeping us indoors.
We brought home our baby girl, G, only 5 days earlier. Christmas was on a Saturday and G came home of fully-decked halls, on Monday! So, it was different, but magical in its quiet and wonder.
Our entryway has been on our minds ever since we bought the house in 2018, but it was never a priority because we had an entire kitchen, three bathrooms, bedrooms and a living room to re-do. Not to mention getting a new roof, heater, and other #notsoglamorous upgrades.
The peonies are in! This will be our third summer in the house (if I am counting correctly) and it is so luxuriously rewarding to have a harvest of pink peonies from the backyard.
I always thought it would be fun to re-create a French breakfast and have them over to enjoy it slowly, in true European fashion. This year on Good Friday, we did it! It was a dream. Leisurely, slow-paced, and all about food and good company!
In the spirit of one of my favorite home videos, Snow on March 1st, I proudly present this wee little video here! We woke up on Sunday, Feb 7 (also Super Bowl Sunday) to a beautiful scene out of our window. A fresh coating of snow, falling softly yet robustly. I knew I wanted to film while the snowflakes were still heavy, so out I went with my tripod and 50 mm!
The natural lighting in the kitchen is unbeatable in the cold winter months! With the freshly fallen snow, beams of light are illuminated upward. Right through our window, we catch the best midmorning and afternoon light, and even in the dusk hours there is a twinkly, purple glow that is quite difficult to put into words.
It may not be Christmas, nor Christmas Eve, but it certainly is Christmastime. Perhaps the best part of Christmas, too. The buildup to the holiday, the anticipation of the joys to come. The festive feeling swells up in me as I hear dialogues of familiar movies, Christmas carols, and chiming bells. It gets stronger with scents of fresh pine, peppermint, baking cookies, and the sharp chill in the air.
These photos are going to be the ones I cherish for a long, long, long time! They have a certain feel to them - much like the year 2020 itself.
I’m inspired to grow an English cottage garden from scratch: here’s my plan and what I hope to grow.
