A seasonal lifestyle blog
A love letter to style, heirloom recipes, creative pursuits, motherhood, and life’s little joys through my camera lens.
Peace in The Midst of Chaos
I’m writing this blog post with an anterior perspective of vacation, from the beginning…which is a bit unconventional from my previous LBI posts. This is intentional…almost as an exercise…to calm down and ease into our week. I fully acknowledge, that right now, at the start of vacation, I am stressed! But why!? What did I forget to pack? What will we do for dinners? What is on our “must-do” list? Will my family drive each other nuts? And this is awful, but a part of me feels like I can’t get to summer until I get through this week. I spent the drive down specifically meditating on how I don’t want to feel that way this year, or even right now.
Sunflower Bridal Shower Invitations & Summery Stationery from Basic Invite
My wedding invites, which I designed on a popular wedding invitation website, felt like a chore because the process was filled with micro-details and frustrating “this or that” options. I was definitely on a budget, with limited time, and an vision for a timeless and classic design…
Decoration Notes
I have had this post saved in my drafts forever! What I envisioned for this post was to share my taste in decoration, and to show off some of our current accents around our home. But I am realizing that making a home doesn’t just happen. It takes years and time - acquiring pieces, creating stories around them, and finding the pieces that tell a story. Sometimes these pieces are heirlooms, or they are investments. So this wasn’t the kind of post I could rush.
Currently
It is June, it is June! Yipee! I promised myself that this month, I would be ultra-present and conscious of my intentions. It is already HALFWAY through the year. How? HOW!? I wanted to mark the beginning of the month, and half-way point of 2019, by doing another currently post. I haven’t done one of these in a while. Just to share some thoughts, favorites, and feelings as of late. So, here we go!
My First Garden
I am gushing with happiness at my far-from perfect garden. I have been so focused on what I don’t have: perfectly manicured flower beds, eclectic and thoughtfully repurposed antique finds, or seasoned perennials that promise blooms to come.
Portrait of Tanner
The urge to paint always hits me the same way. I don’t watercolor nearly enough, and when I miss it, it is this instinctual craving. I just know that I need to slow down and paint. I don’t need to see paint supplies, or even a painting to inspire me…sometimes I just know it’s been a while, and it is time to bring out my brushes and paints again.
