Local Spotlight: Hollow House Farm

One of the things I love about being a self-labeled “creative” nowadays is that I can chase that “anything is possible” kind of feeling through freelance work I enjoy doing. I recently had the opportunity to visit Hollow House Farm for a photography session and felt this exact overflow of inspiration. I met Lisa and Matt, the owners and husband and wife duo who are building the farm from scratch. Lisa and Matt were just simply a joy to meet and chat with…just after a few minutes, they had already felt like old friends of mine. As they explained their dreams, plans, projects and ambitions for the land, I was in awe of everything they had already created, and for the vision that they were laying out!

Hollow House Farm is situated in Furlong, PA and offers some of the most picturesque views of age-old preserved Bucks County farmland and fields. It is a small-scale farm whose owners are completely committed to sustainability, community growth, and providing a beautiful experience to reconnect with the earth and land. As we started shooting some photos of the grounds, chickens, ducks, bees, and of course, the farm, a feeling of genuine peace and calm came over me. It’s a haven. As Lisa and Matt showed me around, they patiently pointed out everything from their irrigation system to the 18th century stone house ruins that seem to stand watch over the grounds. I got to hear all about what Hollow House is and will be as its stewards actualize their long-term plans and goals. Lisa and Matt have a passion for building community, as well as a commitment to making Hollow House a local stop for homegrown farm goods. The farm itself is so much more than just stunning acreage. It is a complex and well-thought system of aquaponic farming and controlled environment agriculture. And yet, it is also a place to reconnect with the land, where slow living is embraced, and where nature’s offerings are sources of daily joy. Their farm stand is stocked with fresh farm eggs, an impressive variety of lettuces, and golden honey — all harvested from the farm.

If you are local to Bucks County, make a trip to their farm stand. You‘ll be glad you ventured down their country road, and I’ll even bet you that you feel a sudden urge to sit, unfold a picnic blanket, and stay a while. I am so honored to have captured these pictures for Lisa and Matt during this exciting chapter for HHF. Their vision, community-centric outlook, and hard work is unparalleled!
