Fall is my favorite time to dive into self-improvement. It’s the last big hurrah for being outside until the cold long winter is over. With a full schedule of family activities, social outings, work, exercise, and fall activities, it’s been a whirlwind. But it’s easy to enjoy the busy season when it’s perfect crisp weather and world-famous orange foliage is your backdrop.

Here are some of my favorite essentials for enjoying fall to the maximum. I am lately obsessed with all things plum, burgundy, hunter green, and chocolate brown. I am leaning heavily into these earth tones, as well as textures. For example, this vintage barn coat that my mom got me exudes classic 90s New England fall with its canvas outer and corduroy lining. I’ve been excited to break out my boot collection and add a new pair of these leather riding boots to the rotation. Lastly, I think I have found the perfect jeans — I own them in burgundy, and I want to try them in light wash but they keep selling out in my size!

I’ve also been in my workout game, averaging about 3x a week heated cardio and pilates classes. The reward (both mental and physical) is well worth the cost of the classes and I wish I started sooner. I haven’t taken organized workout classes since before the pandemic and it’s really good to be back in a group workout setting. I am in the market for cute workout gear, so I’ll include my contenders below.

Self care is ever important — it’s not just a fall thing — but I am excited that I’ve been getting into some new self-care habits. I think a new season does this to me. As for skincare, I am getting a CO2 facial in a few weeks and I am excited, but a little nervous. I also have been trying new products including this hair care line and these press-on nails (which are a 10/10, no notes). My makeup routine is in a good spot, with this Jones Road Miracle Balm being my absolute favorite workhorse product. I use it for highlighter, bronzer, and even on top of eyeshadow…I feel like it does a great job of locking in makeup and pigment. Helps makeup stay on longer!

It’s also been an exciting time of year around the house. We have been making plans for redoing a wall in our living room with new moulding and paint - we chose Evergreen Fog by Benjamin Moore this wall. It’s the perfect color! I either over-thought it to the point of perfect execution, or got super lucky because it was my first “attempt” at trying a new paint color. I am a bit of a commitment-phobe with home decor, paint and furniture so I am really pleased we nailed it on the first try. The color is perfect! We also added a new accent table in front of the wall and I have been loving styling it with some of my other lamps, tchotchkes and baskets around the house.
