Snow on February 7th
In the spirit of one of my favorite home videos, Snow on March 1st, I proudly present this wee little video here! We woke up on Sunday, Feb 7 (also Super Bowl Sunday) to a beautiful scene out of our window. A fresh coating of snow, falling softly yet robustly. I knew I wanted to film while the snowflakes were still heavy, so out I went with my tripod and 50 mm!

2020 and 2021 brides, I tip my hat to you. Covid-19 has thrown such a curveball our way, and while many of us are fortunate to simply be “stuck at home” some of us are much more deeply impacted. So many have lost loved ones, are in a distressing financial situation, or having to put life’s big milestones on hold.
In Flux
As I type this, the snow is gently falling at our doorstep in thick, lush heaps! It is truly so magical and such an enchanting way to ring in the first of February. I feel so grateful for the natural break that this snow has afforded me - not 1 but 2 total snow days so far - it could not come at a more needed time. I feel selfish admitting it, and even silly for expressing it here.
Winter Light in the Kitchen
The natural lighting in the kitchen is unbeatable in the cold winter months! With the freshly fallen snow, beams of light are illuminated upward. Right through our window, we catch the best midmorning and afternoon light, and even in the dusk hours there is a twinkly, purple glow that is quite difficult to put into words.
A White Christmas{time}
It may not be Christmas, nor Christmas Eve, but it certainly is Christmastime. Perhaps the best part of Christmas, too. The buildup to the holiday, the anticipation of the joys to come. The festive feeling swells up in me as I hear dialogues of familiar movies, Christmas carols, and chiming bells. It gets stronger with scents of fresh pine, peppermint, baking cookies, and the sharp chill in the air.
