A seasonal lifestyle blog
A love letter to style, heirloom recipes, creative pursuits, motherhood, and life’s little joys through my camera lens.

In Flux
As I type this, the snow is gently falling at our doorstep in thick, lush heaps! It is truly so magical and such an enchanting way to ring in the first of February. I feel so grateful for the natural break that this snow has afforded me - not 1 but 2 total snow days so far - it could not come at a more needed time. I feel selfish admitting it, and even silly for expressing it here.

Winter Light in the Kitchen
The natural lighting in the kitchen is unbeatable in the cold winter months! With the freshly fallen snow, beams of light are illuminated upward. Right through our window, we catch the best midmorning and afternoon light, and even in the dusk hours there is a twinkly, purple glow that is quite difficult to put into words.

A White Christmas{time}
It may not be Christmas, nor Christmas Eve, but it certainly is Christmastime. Perhaps the best part of Christmas, too. The buildup to the holiday, the anticipation of the joys to come. The festive feeling swells up in me as I hear dialogues of familiar movies, Christmas carols, and chiming bells. It gets stronger with scents of fresh pine, peppermint, baking cookies, and the sharp chill in the air.

What 2020 Has Taught Me
Well, I think we can all agree 2020 was the challenge of our generation. There were dark times, and bright times, but even now, one of the most unsettling elements is the remaining question of what will happen. We do not know. It makes me realize that pining away for a long-lost time is useless - we are living our own history right now, each step of the way! All the terrible, beautiful parts of it, too.

Holiday Family Photos
These photos are going to be the ones I cherish for a long, long, long time! They have a certain feel to them - much like the year 2020 itself.

Retreat to the Shenandoah
This trip was a product of a spontaneous decision we made back in September, after the first few days of school were trying and seemed impossible. After an “I’ve had it!” kind of day, I went home to visit mom, and we just kinda…well, booked a trip to Virginia.
