A seasonal lifestyle blog
A love letter to style, heirloom recipes, creative pursuits, motherhood, and life’s little joys through my camera lens.

In Flux
As I type this, the snow is gently falling at our doorstep in thick, lush heaps! It is truly so magical and such an enchanting way to ring in the first of February. I feel so grateful for the natural break that this snow has afforded me - not 1 but 2 total snow days so far - it could not come at a more needed time. I feel selfish admitting it, and even silly for expressing it here.

Stopping To Look
I guess that is what makes August, August. It is hot, it is humid, almost like a steambath. The garden is taking its last gasp as it starts to brown and sag. My dahlias were a disappointment, as my cafe au laits didn’t even bloom (yet?) and my lifestyle anenomes were/are barely budding. August is the Sunday of summer.

Recovery Skincare Regimen
So I am now about 1 full week into my new nighttime skin care routine, which is a Retin-A routine I do every single night! I guess with COVID-19, why not try something new now? I’m not wearing much makeup, so this break for my skin is well-timed. I have been using Retin-A on and off for about a year but was always scared off by the peeling and dryness. Turns out I was using too much and applying it too directly, which made my skin feel irritated and brittle.

Self-Care Haul
Between Christmas gifts and a feeling of newness approaching with a new year/decade, I have been upping my game in the self-care/beauty department. I have been on a new regimen since Sunday which involves a blend of microdermabrasion, deep cleansing, glycolic peels, and moisturizing. And I am tottttally geeking out over it.

Skinny Shrimp: Easy Weeknight Dinner, 2 Ways
Shrimp was something I’ve always been hesitant to try cooking…fearing that I’d overdo it, mess it up, and waste a bunch of money. But recently it has become one of my favorite go-to light dinners. I am sharing two ways to cook shrimp, with two totally different tastes, as easy weeknight dinners. Buon appetito!

Comparison
Comparison: I do this a lot.
I'm not sure why, really, because every big and important and meaningful aspect of my life is going just dandy as it can right now. Health, family, and surroundings are all areas of wonderful contentment for me. So I wonder why sometimes I continue to compare my current situation with others.
