Nesting Inspiration

One of my favorite parts of my pregnancy journey is the nesting phase! Maybe I don’t understand nesting all too well, since I feel as though I have been “nesting” ever since becoming a homeowner. I absolutely love it. To me, nesting is putting the thought, time and care into making a home as cozy, clean, and comfortable as possible. Of course, getting ready for baby is one thing, but I absolutely love the feeling of living a life de-cluttered, straightened up, and organized. To me, nesting is all about having things in their place, creating a bright and cozy atmosphere within the walls of the house, and of course the feeling of being at ease and relaxed. Cozy, clean, comfy.

Getting the nursery ready for baby has been such a fun part of nesting. We aren’t quite there yet, but the major pieces of the nursery are in place, and ready to go. When people ask if I am ready, the answer is NO! but kind of. As for new pieces, we bought a gently used rocking chair was something we added for late night feedings and story time. Along the wall, a stunning crib (in matching white) that will someday convert to a toddler bed. We splurged on a pretty, wide drawer dresser for all of baby’s swaddles, onesies, blankets, and trinkets. We even have a changing station complete with diaper caddy and changing pad for (hopefully) smooth wipe-downs! Besides that, small additions need to be installed or decorated. Here is some of the inspiration that guided our nesting, especially in context with the nursery and some of our registry picks!

As you can see, the style I have been gravitating towards involves lots of whites, natural textures, and neutral colors. Going into it, I never had a firm plan or theme, but I think I’ve arrived at one! The sense I am getting from this nursery is inspiration from soft botanicals, with lots of white and earthy wood tones making a few appearances. “Peter Rabbit” and the Cotswolds has come up in my mind from time to time, breaking up the neutrals and adding a timeless, classic feel that is understated and soft.
