East Coast Inspiration in Long Beach Island
A week in Long Beach Island, NJ is truly a reset for me unlike any other. I’ve been going since I was in the womb, and there’s something about it that feels like home. It never fails to set me in a peaceful mindset, and whenever I leave, I know I will be back.
Our trip highlight was simple: the weather. The mid-June days were light, breezy, and effortless with a noticeable lack of humidity. Even on overcast days, there was a delightful warmth and dryness that made being on the beach so comfortable.
The lack of crowds was also a perk I didn’t anticipate. Usually, Long Beach Island is bustling and crowded. We did hit some popular spots, but for the most part, our street was quiet, and the beaches were empty. We had the entire beach to ourselves.
Analog pleasures like listening to records, using a fun retro digital camera (without a screen), and of course, partaking in a new hobby — needlepoint — allowed me to really unplug. Going into the trip, there was stress and apprehension. Coming out, I’m the same old me…plotting my next way back.
