Blueberry Honey Lemonade Mocktail

Today I am sharing a bit of a simple recipe, a fizzy blueberry lemonade. It’s simple, but made with real ingredients and it’s got a goldilocks thing going on: it’s just right. It’s not too sweet. It’s not too tart. Best part? It’s ALCOHOL FREE! Yes, it’s a mocktail. It’s mellow and fizzy like a cocktail, but as refreshing and lipsmacking good as a summertime lemonade.

I can’t be alone in that I sometimes crave a refreshing, fizzy drink after a long, hot workweek. There is something undeniably glamorous about a happy hour spritz or frozen margarita on a warm evening. And how glamorous it is to glamorize the little things in life. I am also all about the no-alcohol vibes lately, and fInding a good non-alcoholic drink recipe can be annoyingly difficult. For some weird reason, the internet just doesn’t always work in my favor when I’m searching for good mocktails. So I decided am just going to start adapting my own, hopefully to elevate these simple concoctions for myself and for you. I’m talking fancy ice, pretty glasses, and all the garnish. I am by no means a mixologist, and I can’t fully ignore my inner pragmatist - so these bevandi will be easy, inexpensive, accessible, and most importantly, classy.

I love this summery non-alcoholic drink recipe but it does take a little work involving the blueberry mixture/syrup, or as I call it, goo. This would be GREAT to make ahead of time if you’re serving guests or want to have a batch on hand. This recipe made two generous drinks and it was lovely! Truly not too sweet, and not too blueberry-ish. The seltzer added a pleasant fizz to make it feel like a cocktail. I feel like this drink would pair so well with a yummy dinner of tacos or empanadas…it can handle a spicy compatriot.

Blueberry Lemonade Refresher Recipe - adapted from Mama Likes to Cook

Yields 2 Drinks

  • handful of blueberries…not even a full pint

  • honey

  • water

  • splash of blueberry lemonade (I used brand Simply Fresh)

  • slash of blueberry lemon seltzer (I used brand Polar)

  • lime for garnish

  1. Blueberry Mixture: In a small saucepan I took a handful of blueberries, 1/4 cup water (aka a splash), and drizzled some honey. I used a silicone spatula to gently press the blueberries as they heated up and it turned the mixture into a wonderfully fragrant purple goo. Use a collander or mesh strainer to sift out the larger pieces, keeping the blueberry mixture/syrup in a different container.

  2. Place ice in two glasses. Pour blueberry mixture into glasses after letting cool for 10-15 mins.

  3. Splash a little bit of blueberry lemonade, and top with another splash of lemon seltzer.

  4. Garnish with fresh blueberries (and I used a little lime).
