I am not sure about you, but February has arrived and there is an ever-so-slight change in the air…perhaps it is the angle of the sun, or the birds chirping a little louder. Spring is on the way! I always get prematurely excited for spring’s arrival. Here in Pennsylvania, we still have plenty of months of chilly weather before flowers start popping up and we start pulling out our warm-weather wardrobes.

That being said, I do love a small touch of spring especially in my casual outfits. When I am weekending or simply enjoying some free time, I love to add a bandana to my look for a lighthearted and girlish touch. There are so many ways to style a bandana or scarf, and I happen to think that a well-chosen bandana is the perfect winter to spring transitional accessory.

Here are some creative, unexpected ways to wear a bandana:

  • Wristlet

  • Ponytail

  • Headband

  • Keychain

  • Belt Loop

  • Bag Handle

  • Necklace

  • Kerchief

  • Braid Accessory (weave it in your hair)

My go-to bandana look is a kerchief around my neck, tied kind of like a scarf. It adds a playful and colorful touch to a neutral wardrobe, and often you can find really adorable patterns that incorporate paisleys and florals that beckon spring. My favorite places to start looking for bandanas/scarves are Madewell, Anthropologie and Sezane. Here are some current favorites!
